How can our society benefit even more from the knowledge developed at our universities? How do you convert this knowledge into innovations that boost our economy and provide solutions for major societal challenges?

We posed these questions to researchers from different universities who are actively engaged in introducing new discoveries to the market. Which circumstances have a positive effect on this? And what are the outcomes of their efforts? The first interviewee is Maarten Steinbuch, Professor of Systems and Control for four days a week at Eindhoven University of Technology, and entrepreneur for one day a week.  Dutch science ranks in the world top of almost every discipline. Converting this research into promising solutions for our society and economy is more important than ever and involves many different aspects.

In the series “Entrepreneurial Scientists”, we interview researchers with a strong entrepreneurial spirit who are pleased to share their experiences and vision with the rest of the world. Some of them have established a startup, whereas others inspire colleagues or students to become entrepreneurs or contribute in another way to transfer knowledge and technology from Dutch research to the market. This series is an initiative from Techleap.nl in collaboration with Innovation Origins.
