In recent years, the Dutch House of Representatives has put forward several motions requesting the government to present a vision about bringing innovation in the Netherlands to maturity. The government has pledged to inform the Dutch House of Representatives about this before the summer of 2022.

All three motions emphasise a different theme.

The motion Van Strien calls for research into the contribution of rule-free experimental spaces for sustainable and innovative products, services and earning models. Download motion (in Dutch)

Stimulating innovation is crucial for continued economic growth in the Netherlands. At present, many innovations fail to get off the ground or do so too slowly. Further growth is also hampered due to local, regional and national legislation. How can rule-free experimental spaces help accelerate the development, introduction and further growth of sustainable and innovative products, services and earning models?

The motion Van der Woude and Van der Graaf calls upon the Minister of Education, Culture and Science and the Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy to supply a clear vision on the societal impact of valorising knowledge. Download motion (in Dutch)

Valorisation is the third core task of universities and is vitally important for our society. The Netherlands has become increasingly successful as a breeding ground for startups but not enough of these mature into scaleups yet. Which effort is needed to create a Dutch valorisation ecosystem that is one of the best in the world? An important aspect of this is IP agreements between universities and startups that strive for and facilitate the long-term growth of startups.

The Netherlands has the ambition to become the best entrepreneurial ecosystem for academic startups in Europe. Following the European example, Dutch universities have drawn up a plan for a Dutch Academic Impact Fund (DAIF) to resolve bottlenecks in the funding and support of academic startups. How can a Dutch Academic Impact Fund be added to the set of innovation instruments?
